Smart Home Project
For my HCI Project Course, my team of myself and three others from multiple disciplines were paired with a client, a principle investigator of the Smart Home Research Group at Carnegie Mellon University. My role in the team was the user test coordinator, which seemed only natural with my strong background in research methodology. Tasked with uncovering new methods of integrating technology into the home, and specifically, calendar and reminder systems, our team began with a series of contextual inquiries. With information gathered from these interviews, we conducted think aloud sessions with our emerging interface, a refridgerator screen interface integrated with a digital pen. This project was very conceptual in nature, so our think aloud sessions were Wizard of Oz'ed. With information gathered from these sessions, we produced a final report (5MB) and a final presentation (1.3MB) that encompassed our full design concept.
