Typography

A large focus of my training in usability was on aesthetic design, including the importance of typography in an interface. Through multiple courses, I've learned about what fonts are good in certain situations such as the web versus other fonts you might use in print media.

Pictured right is an examination I did on the Garamond font. Noting the unique aspects of this serif font help distinguish it from other serif fonts such as Times New Roman. With this understanding of different fonts, I have been able to look at logos, print media, the web, and other screen interfaces in a different way. Learning to appreciate typography was just one important aspect of my education as a user experience researcher and designer.
